How to choose an alarm system for a home, apartment or garage

A good alarm system should match the property, the preferred communication method and the number of areas that need protection. The Onshop.pl alarm system configurator combines these requirements and compares compatible sets instead of recommending a product based on sensor count alone.

Wi‑Fi, GSM or 4G/LTE alarm system – which connection is right?

If the control panel has reliable Wi‑Fi, app control and app notifications are convenient. A SIM card can be used for alarm SMS messages and phone calls, while selected control panels can also use 4G/LTE mobile data for the app. The configurator treats these connection types separately, so GSM is not automatically presented as mobile internet.

PIR motion sensors, door/window sensors and pet-friendly protection

PIR motion sensors protect movement zones inside the property, while door/window sensors detect openings. If a dog or cat stays in the protected area, the configurator can select compatible pet-immune PIR sensors and does not count a standard PIR as a pet-safe protection zone.

What does the alarm kit configurator take into account?

You choose the property type, connectivity, exact numbers of motion and opening sensors, and optional remotes, RFID tags and additional sirens. The engine checks alarm-family compatibility, what is already included in the base set, the accessories still required, current prices and availability, then shows the best match and useful alternatives.

Frequently asked questions about choosing an alarm system

Which alarm system is suitable for an apartment?

For an apartment, straightforward operation, the right number of motion and opening sensors, and a convenient alert method are usually the key factors. The configurator compares these requirements with ready-made sets and favours configurations that avoid unnecessary extras.

Does every alarm with a SIM card provide mobile internet for the app?

No. Some control panels use the SIM card only for SMS messages and phone calls. App access over cellular data requires a control panel that supports mobile data such as 4G/LTE. The configurator keeps these options separate.

Which motion sensor should I choose if I have pets?

A compatible pet-immune PIR sensor is the appropriate choice when pets remain in protected areas. The configurator treats pet immunity as a separate requirement and selects the appropriate sensor type for the requested zones.

Does the displayed configuration price include the added accessories?

Yes. The result shows the price of the complete selected configuration. If the base set does not contain every required component, the configurator lists the extra accessories and includes them in the total.
